Ishlefi
I wasn't able to sleep much last night.
It's not just the weather. And no, it's not the wedding preps that kept me awake... It's the Grand Showdown of the Pinoy Pop S(h)uperstar. I wanted to see if Aicelle Santos would win. Throughout the contests, she was, by far, the best among the contenders. But last night, another Santos, Gerald, was better. Congratulations to the new millionaire!
After learning who the winner was, this was around 1 AM already, I texted Dionne so that she can read it when she wakes up in the morning... Or so I thought! I got a reply from her a few seconds after my text. Hahaha! She was still awake! We couldn't resist not watching this one... Now we're both ishlefi at the office. This is going to be a long day. =P
Friday, May 5
Upon getting the wonderful new$ from Brymac, Dionne and I decided to treat ourselves to dinner at SM San Lazaro. We got there early, which was good because we were able to discuss how we were going to handle the delay in the printing of our invitations...
The invitations were supposed to be delivered on the last week of April. Unfortunately, Unifair was having problems with their printers so they called us to inform of this and that the invites will be available a week later. That day, we contacted them to verify if the invites will be available in the morning or in the afternoon. We had a full day so the timing was critical. I was even ready to cancel an appointment just to get the invites. So I texted my friend Ryan about our situation, but was not able to get an immediate reply, which turned out to be OK. More on this later.
While waiting for Dionne's mom to join us, we went around the department store looking for ties for our entourage and principal sponsors. Dionne already spotted a nice red shade but we had to wait for Mommie because she had the swatches, which turned out to be a perfect match for the ties. We are very grateful for the staff of SM for helping us complete the 14 ties that we needed. San Lazaro only had 6 items on their stock, but a manager volunteered to call other SM malls to reserve the ties for us. Megamall still had 4 while Manila (City Hall) had 6.
We also dropped by Ace Hardware to a get spraypaint can for the house. While there, Shirley of Unifair called me to say that they won't be able to complete the invites that Saturday and that it's going to be either Monday or Tuesday. I told them that we didn't really have any other choice but to wait. I also told her that I'll drop by to give them the missalettes for binding. I think they can sense that Dionne's very angry and disappointed that's why they were calling me instead. And so, my earlier text to Ryan was to be ignored and whatever was our original plan would push through.
We had a late dinner at Congo Grille. We were all very hungry at this point that it was a good thing that the food was served quickly. Eating fast, we also got full immediately. It could also be because we ordered more than we could eat. Hehe. Well, that night's leftovers became somebody's breakfast.
Saturday, May 6
We were already up and about by 6AM. Dionne was going with her mom for some diagnostics at a clinic near UST. While I was going to Unifair to deliver the missalette and get a commitment on the delivery of our invites.
By 830AM, I was already at Unifair but Erwin nor Shirley were not yet around. I was able to talk to Tors and told him of the situation. He assured me that once the printers are OK, they'll run our invites immediately. As for the missalettes, I discussed it with Lisa and even gave her a sketch for the cover. I also drew a draft for the Thank You cards. I had to leave early because Dionne and I had a 10AM appointment at UST.
Before 10AM, we were already at the UST parish office for our canonical interview. I was never really good at interviews and it showed... The priest lectured me on love and marriage because on one question, I answered with a resounding "ahmmm". Which probably prompted him to ask me if I wanted to stop or to go on. I cluelessly (bu confidently) answered "go on, of course". I didn't realize that that could have meant us not passing the interview. Good thing Dionne did a much better job before my turn. Nuninu.
One thing I forgot to do was to withdraw money for the full payment for the church... Dionne and I had to walk across the UST campus to get to the MetroBank ATM at EspaƱa. By 11AM, we were already exhausted that we had to stop by Jollibee Tayuman for some cold refreshments and get some rest.
At around 1130AM, we were on our way to SM Megamall to meet Ryan, to get him his black polo and also to get the other ties.
We arrived at past 12PM. Fortunately for us, Ryan didn't get bored that much. Since he had a whole load of new comics to read! Hehe! And it cost him... Grabe. =P
We ate at Chef Donatello but forgot to take pictures because we were already hungry... Food was OK, not that special, but was reasonably priced.
We then headed to the department store for his polo. We got him a nice one from Sahara. It'll probably be the same for the other ento. We also got the 4 ties we reserved and another 3 ties for the kids. We think the kids will like their ties, especially Ep-ep. We can't wait to see his reaction when he sees what he's going to wear.
From the department store, we went to BTIC to buy pasalubong for our ninong/ninang-to-be, Ryan's parents.
By 2PM, we were excitedly met by Ryan's parents at their home along Commonwealth Ave., near Ever Gotesco. The last time we were there was the first time I introduced Dionne to them. We gave Ryan and his dad the ties to be used for the wedding. We spent the next hour or so over merienda, talking about our preps, their love story, but most of time, the talk always goes back to Ryan. What topic? No comment. =P
Ryan was kind enough to give us a lift to the GMA/Kamuning MRT station. From there, we went to SM Manila to get the final 4 ties. We were thinking of watching a movie but decided to go home instead because we were already very tired.
To sum up our day: Divisoria - UST - Tayuman - Megamall - Commonwealth - Manila City Hall. By 11PM, I just had to sleep, another busy day was ahead of us.
Sunday, May 7
Before 8AM, we were on our way to one of our flower girls', Angel, home in Bambang to pick her up. She was scheduled to have her fitting with Tet by 9AM. Angel was well-behaved while Tet was fixing her gown. She had to adjust it because Angel didn't get taller but had a bigger tummy than before.
By 10AM, we were on our way to return Angel as she had a party to attend later that afternoon.
At 11AM, Dionne and I decided to drop by SM San Lazaro to have lunch and to buy our groceries. Lunch choices were: Super Bowl, Pizza Hut, Chef Wong, Yellow Cab, Chef de Angelo... We picked Chef Wong since we wanted to try something new.
To our delight, the food was so great! That's why there were always people eating there. Pics to be posted soon...
That afternoon, I was supposed to go to the gym. Since it was still hot outside, I decided to take a 10-minute nap first and get some rest before the workout. Ten minutes stretched to an hour, to two hours, to the rest of the afternoon. My body still felt exhausted from the previous day's travels that it had taken its toll on my gym schedule. (Excuses! Hehe!)
We're still awaiting for news on our invites. Hopefully, we can get them today.
