Flashback: October 30

Every Sunday, Dionne, her mom and I attend the 10AM mass at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes. (Having our wedding rites here crossed our minds before, but the traffic and the parking area posed major problems.)

This Tagalog mass is usually officiated by Fr. Ichabod. I must say that he is one hell (pun intended) of a priest. You can see that he really enjoys what he's doing. He's one of the reasons that make the celebration worthwhile and worth looking forward to. After the mass, I feel happy and renewed. =)

That particular Sunday was his last as part of the Lourdes parish. Apparently, priests serve their posts for a certain term, afterwhich, they are rotated to different parishes/posts. He will be transferred to GMA, Cavite.

As parting words to his flock, he offered the following advice to live your life to the fullest:
  1. Free your mind from worries and fears
  2. Free your heart from anger and hatred
  3. Live simply (he even sang "Simple Lang" by Ariel Rivera, his favorite)
  4. Give more
  5. Expect less
He also sang "Only You" as a farewell gift to the people. I sure will miss him... Thank you Fr. Ichabod!

Earlier, on our way to the church, we had our usual tricycle ride from Tambunting. Traffic was already heavy on our usual route because of the flock of people going to the North Cemetery. On one of the sidestreets, we encountered a hump that made me jump out of my seat behind the driver. Bumps on the head are fine, but on this one, there were rusty nails protruding from the overhead cover! I repeatedly checked for blood on my head the rest of the way. But there was none. Puncture? I hoped not!

At the church, I asked Dionne and her mom to check the wound. Apparently, it was only a scratch. But I was still afraid of tetanus. Namumutla nga daw ako nun eh. We decided to go to the Chinese General Hospital after. Good thing our office's health card is recognized there. At first, I agreed to get anti-tetanus shots (better safe than sorry) but the resident doctor advised against it as it was only a superficial scratch, not a puncture.

Don't mind the ugly rockstar-pose attempt...

That afternoon, we gave SM San Lazaro another chance... Even though it was a SALE day, there weren't that many people, compared to the last time we were there. We even had a chance to look around. Dionne bought a cute handbag. We also bought a pair of belts from some store (forgot the name).

After buying our groceries (before e-VAT takes over), we went to Ice Monster for our daily (not monthly, haha!) indulgence. Mudslide is the flavor of choice. It was good, but not as good as the Fudgie Brown Ice. Something to look forward to eh? =P~

The rest of the day was spent at an impromptu photo-op. ;)

Do we still look like we're on a diet? Hahaha!
