"The Air in Your Tire" and the Day After...
My, oh my… It has been almost a month since Dionne’s post about MB. And yesterday, THE day finally arrived.
I got out of the office by 4PM, while Beenj (Benj and Beej) went to DFA to get Dionne. We met at around 6PM and waited a while for Cri-c, who was around the area to buy some tokens of appreciation for the panel that will be present for her thesis defense.
We had a hearty dinner at Burgoo. Cri-c and Manuel (aka Jun-jun) were not able to join us because they had to go shopping. We were so hungry that we forgot to take pictures of the food. (Sorry Christophe.) Beenj shared a platter of ribs and Cajun with fries. The dieters had protein-rich selections (translation: steak and pork chops). Nuninu.
By 645PM, we were already at our seats. While waiting, BTIC kept us company.
Although cameras were not allowed, it’s no surprise that a number of people had cameras, not counting the camera-phone.
At 830PM, it finally started…
Dionne: Oh. My. God. AAAHHHHH!!!!
Expectedly, Michael Buble captivated the audience with his enthralling performance, singing tunes like Fly Me To The Moon, That’s All, Home and many more.
One thing I didn’t expect about Michael was that he was quite a joker! At the beginning, he talked about men being dragged into his show by their better halves. He said that the men should thank him instead as he is “the air in your tire” making it possible to ride the bike throughout the night… Lokong Mike. Haha!
He also spoofed Josh Groban, Rey Charles, Maroon 5 and Michael Jackson. Most surprising of all was that he ran through the audience. He even climbed towards the upper levels of seats!
Unfortunately, this was the closest shot I got:
YES, that’s him in the middle. His back was enough to immobilize some people I know… ;)
At some point, an usher approached me regarding my video-capturing exploit… Darn. I settled for recording the sounds instead. I couldn’t get a clear shot of him anyway. Hmp!
After almost two hours of singing and laughs, it had to end. It’s nice to know that Michael acknowledges the Philippines as the place where IT all started.
How did I find the show? Besides seeing Dionne that happy, I must admit, I actually enjoyed it. ‘Can’t wait for Michael’s next show. I hear another Michael is coming here on December. Michael Bolton, that is.
Finally, a wedding update.
This morning, we went to UST to formally reserve the church for our wedding. To our dismay, they already raised their rates. For non-alumni, what was 7,500 before is now 12,000! While the alumni rate of 6,500 is now 10,000! The previous registration fee of 300 was raised to 1,000! At least, now it’s deductible from the total amount. Haay!
This afternoon, we indulged ourselves in the Divisoria experience.
Dionne got: 5 blouses, pants, shoes, set of bead accessories, and a colorful bag. All for a little over one thousand bucks!
In turn, I got a reversible sleeveless jersey and a pair of rubber slippers (sandals?).
Considering it’s only Thursday and that there’s no upcoming special occasion, we were surprised by the volume of people doing their shopping. We spent the whole afternoon at the 168 mall. And that just covers half of the whole mall! I wonder what goods are on sale at the other half. Maybe that’s where the flasks we originally intended to buy are. Some other time. Nuninu.
