From Kindergarten to Book Lovers
Yes... We're making a big revamp on the theme.
At the start of the preparations, we looked into having a kindergarten theme. Since we both met when we were still in elementary, we thought it would be nice to reminisce the "old days". We brainstormed on how to incorporate the theme to our wedding. We thought of centerpieces, cake design, souvenirs, invitation, etc.
I still cannot remember why we changed themes. All I know is that I'm more comfortable with this theme. Joven and I have the passion for books (of different genre though). You can leave us for hours in a bookstore and we wouldn't mind. We would swap books and talk about the characters we read. Actually, he reads my suspense/horror books but I really cannot get the same enthusiasm he has for fantasy/sci-fi. Haha!
We are now considering a number of things for the theme:
- We already have an idea of the cake design we want but it is up to Marita and her artist to give it justice.
- As for the souvenirs, we have thought about giving out bookmarks. The design/layout will still depend on the supplier we’re eyeing.
- For the invitation, we will also have the same supplier for the souvenirs and will ask them if we can have the book-type design we saw in the recent bridal fair we went to.
- The save-the-dates are taken cared of... Thanks to Yax and her eye for great digiscrapping. (Although Joven wants to have our prenup pictorial before we release it, I guess we’ll have to ask Yax to change the picture once we have the prenup pics already. Peace Yax! Hehe.)
- With regard to the prenup location, we have yet to speak to Mimi for her suggestions. But, we’re eyeing UP (probably near the library, seriously!). But of course, we have to book her first! I’m so tamad to e-mail or call her… maybe more like too tired at work… =(
- When we talked to Fol a few months back, he told us that part of the pictorial during the wedding would be in a place that has significance to us or is at least related to our wedding theme. We thought of PowerBooks. There is a new branch in Robinson’s Place (i.e. in the same route from UST to Bayview) but I heard from Beej that it was small. She was able to scout a nice bookstore in Malate (La Solidaridad) but we still have to schedule a visit and ask permission for the pictorial.
- Speaking of bookstores, we saw in one of the fliers of PowerBooks that they have a bridal registry service. Yipee! Although, we’re also planning to register in a department store for our appliance & furniture needs. Hehe!
- What’s killing me lately is the idea on centerpieces. We wanted to DIY (more like DIO, do-it-ourselves. Hihi!) but the creative side of our brains are not working. I haven’t had the “A-ha!” moment yet.
- Lala of Interplay told us that it’s nice to have books there. I agree with her but Joven said that the guests might take it home with them (He’s afraid we’ll lose our books/collection. Haha!)
- Since we’re adapting the zoning system of Impromptu, we won’t need any place cards, just table numbers. I have no idea yet on how to go about this.
- Since we started with the idea on the new theme, I have gathered quotes from our favorite books (dunno yet where we’ll use it). I’m thinking of making an accordion-thingy (I saw in a bridal mag) and put pics of us (probably prenup pics) and book quotes on the other side.
Although work is killing me lately, I'm trying to busy myself with wedding thoughts (happy thoughts 'ika nga). Inside the training room, in front of the computer, on the train to & from work, etc. Adik tawag dito. =D
Did I miss out on anything? Have any ideas for the theme?
Would really appreciate your help. =)

you could also give bookmarks that are made of beads, just like i saw in Powerbooks.. DIY din! hehe! good luck on your new theme!!
wow! good luck with the new theme. i know it's hard to pull off, but you guys can do it!
thanks for droppin by, when are guys putting the tag...hehe!
Here's my 2 cents on this booklovers theme. you can pick out your favorite book of all time, take a venue or event from that book at interpret it from there. You can also, use author's last name as table names. Im not sure how many guests you have, pero for giveaways, you can make/buy those hollow drop spine/book-shaped boxes, inside could be a favorite love poem or book verse. I'll let you know pag meron pa kong naisip.
hi beej! oo nga, kelangan mapuntahan na yan. =)
