Our Lady of Manaoag
Since the year kicked in Joven and I were asked by family members not to travel out of town. There’s a Filipino superstition that altar-bound couples are accident prone. (Uneventful summer explained)
Three days after getting married, we had our first out of town trip.
The Larin clan invited my parents for a trip to Our Lady of Manaoag in Pangasinan. Our itinerary was a mid-morning breakfast in Joven’s uncle’s (our ninong) place in San Fernando, Pampanga, visit the Our Lady of Manaoag before noon, proceed to the Larin’s hometown in San Luis, visit Tatay in the mausoleum and visit their still under construction ancestral house.
We wanted to join the trip because (1) it has been sometime since we went to Pampanga to see Joven’s relatives; (2) we wanted our families to get to know each other better; (3) we wanted Tatay to meet me again as his wife; and (4) we wanted to give thanks to the blessings we have just received. =)
The trip was a real breather. =) It’s fun being with the Larin clan. We were pampered with food! Yum! (Yes, I’m gaining weight again! Haha!)
